Senior Manager, Technical Accounting (Energy)

Location: US, Arlington, VA

Salary: $161,000–$200,600 per year, plus annual bonus.

What you will do

• Research, document, and review complex US GAAP transactions involving derivatives, ASC 606 revenue arrangements, ASC 842 leases, consolidation, impairment, and financial instruments.
• Prepare and review technical accounting memoranda and ensure conclusions are supported, consistent, and aligned with global precedents.
• Advise M&A, local technical accounting teams, and senior leadership on transaction structures, due diligence, and accounting implications.
• Monitor new accounting pronouncements, interpret accounting policies, and communicate relevant changes across the business.
• Support external audits, public financial statement disclosures, regulatory filings, and SOX compliance.
• Supervise junior technical accounting staff and manage discussions with external auditors, consultants, and professional practice leaders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Active US Certified Public Accountant license or equivalent.
• At least seven years of progressive experience with a publicly traded company under US GAAP or with a Big Four firm auditing publicly traded companies under US GAAP.
• Extensive experience in highly technical accounting areas and in-depth knowledge of US GAAP.
• Strong analytical, research, communication, presentation, interpersonal, time-management, and project-management skills.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate across functions, and lead technical accounting activities.
