Staff Software Engineer - Cortex Infra

Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada; employment-based visa or work permit sponsorship is not available.

Salary: CAD 175,000–197,000 base salary per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build modular, composable, and interoperable platform components for precision health data storage and processing.
• Develop product framework components used across hirify.global products.
• Design, develop, and deliver software features across the technology stack.
• Analyze technical design problems, compare options, and propose solutions.
• Use GitHub, Google Cloud, Go, Docker, and Terraform to develop and deliver software.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical software development experience.
• 10+ years of industry software development experience.
• Experience building software and systems on GCP, AWS, or Azure; GCP is preferred.
• Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language, such as Java, C/C++, C#, Objective-C, Go, Python, or JavaScript.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada is required; visa or work permit sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go, Java, Python, and/or SQL.
• Proficiency with Apache Beam and related data ingestion and processing technologies.
• Strong understanding of ETL principles and best practices.
• Experience designing scalable data processing pipelines with Bioquery or other analytics-oriented databases.
• Healthcare or life sciences education or experience, particularly with HL7 FHIR.
