What you will do

  • Lead and coach high-performing, cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Own engineering delivery outcomes, ensuring alignment with sprint goals and value-driven development.
  • Partner with Product Managers to maintain well-shaped backlogs and clear delivery standards.
  • Provide technical leadership on architecture, security, and cloud-native design.
  • Manage team health, career progression, and performance development.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Programme teams to ensure live service health and operational resilience.

Requirements

  • Must be based in the UK (no visa sponsorship provided).
  • 2+ years of experience leading software engineering teams in complex or regulated environments.
  • Strong background in Java, Spring Boot, RDBMS, and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with AWS and event-driven architectures.
  • Proven track record in delivering product-led, agile software.
  • Excellent communication skills for stakeholder management across technical and non-technical teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience in financial services, specifically pensions and ISA products.
  • Experience with TypeScript.
  • Experience working in agent-first organizations.
