Engineering Manager (Fintech)

Location: Remote within the UK, with optional ad hoc visits to the London office; London or Cardiff are also listed.

Salary: £112,000–£145,000 base per year, plus performance-linked incentive awards.

What you will do

• Own delivery and technical outcomes for engineering squads in partnership with Technical Leads and Product Managers.
• Lead, coach, and develop an initial group of approximately 7–10 engineers through regular one-to-ones and continuous feedback.
• Maintain a high bar for engineering excellence and individual performance.
• Partner with senior engineers on technical initiatives and improvements to engineering practices.
• Coordinate communication with stakeholders across teams and contribute to company-wide management and technical standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a software engineer, with a strong technical and delivery background.
• Experience leading engineering teams and guiding them toward measurable outcomes.
• Ability to understand, challenge, and support engineering decisions while empowering teams to make decisions independently.
• Ability to coach engineers, build high-performing teams, and inspire and motivate people.
• Comfort working autonomously in ambiguous problem areas.
• Ability to work remotely from the UK or attend the London office when required.
