TL;DR

Design Engineering Manager (Marine): Leading the design, development, and engineering execution of autonomous marine platforms with an accent on mechanical systems, composites, and production readiness. Focus on bridging the gap between concept and full-scale manufacturing while managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Location: Must be based in Valdosta, GA. This is an onsite role requiring U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence due to ITAR/EAR export control regulations.

What you will do

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, marine, electrical, and systems design engineers.
  • Oversee the full product lifecycle from concept development through prototyping, validation, and production release.
  • Drive design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) practices to ensure scalable production.
  • Maintain configuration control, engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and program management to align design work with cost and schedule requirements.
  • Support prototype builds, system integration, and sea trials to drive continuous design improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Marine, Naval Architecture, Aerospace, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience in product design, marine systems, or vehicle platforms.
  • 2+ years of engineering leadership or management experience.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, CATIA, or similar.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to comply with ITAR/EAR regulations.
  • Strong understanding of engineering change control and configuration management.

Nice to have

  • Experience in boat building, marine manufacturing, or unmanned systems.
  • Knowledge of composite structures, fiberglass, carbon fiber, and hull design.
  • Familiarity with DoD or government product development environments.
  • Experience with PLM/PDM and ERP systems.
