TL;DR

Focus on designing reporting mechanisms, enhancing DATEV/Personio interfaces, and collaborating with Finance and external stakeholders to professionalize the payroll landscape.

What you will do

  • Take operational and technical ownership of monthly payroll for multiple group entities.
  • Ensure full compliance with German tax, labor law, and social security regulations.
  • Maintain and validate payroll data in DATEV, including interfaces with Personio and accounting systems.
  • Support Finance with budgeting, forecasting, and annual closing through data analysis.
  • Coordinate external payroll service providers and act as a central expert partner for auditors and tax advisors.
  • Develop and optimize payroll-relevant tools, reporting logic, and system workflows.

Requirements

  • German: C1 or higher required
  • English: B2 or higher required
  • Several years of hands-on experience in payroll management, ideally in a mid-sized corporate group.
  • Strong practical knowledge of German income tax and social security law.
  • Experience with DATEV Lohn & Gehalt and Personio is highly preferred.
  • Ability to think in terms of structures, standards, and scalability.

Nice to have

  • Experience in functional leadership or steering projects to implementation.
