What you will do
- Coordinate train operations, including obtaining and acting on oral and written information through various devices.
- Perform switching functions by operating track switches and derails to change train routing.
- Conduct train and equipment inspections according to federal regulations and report track condition issues.
- Manage physical tasks such as climbing equipment, connecting air hoses, and replacing railcar knuckles.
- Interpret signals for train movement and control speed and clearance distances in a safety-sensitive environment.
Requirements
- Must be based in or able to report for duty at the Minneapolis, MN work location.
- Valid US employment authorization without need for sponsorship.
- At least 18 years of age by the start date.
- Ability to work on-call 24/7, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and work in extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow).
- Ability to visually distinguish colors and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds.
