Design Release Engineer (Propulsion)

What you will do

• Execute technical solutions for engine cylinder heads, blocks, head gaskets, and transmission cases for propulsion programs.
• Manage engineering changes, ensuring timely release, PPAP, and implementation at plants and suppliers.
• Lead root cause analysis for field and warranty issues, developing containment and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with casting, machining, and gasket suppliers to improve manufacturing quality and reduce defects.
• Perform complex design analysis and evaluate engineering designs to balance cost, mass, and timing.
• Conduct supplier process audits and capability studies to drive corrective actions for non-conformances.

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• 5+ years of experience in automotive component release, quality, or manufacturing.
• No immigration sponsorship available (H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, etc. are not supported).
• Strong analytical skills and experience with engineering change management.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally for supplier and plant support.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with engine cylinder heads, blocks, and transmission cases.
• Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, and automotive quality standards.
• Experience with Teamcenter or similar PLM tools for BOM and drawing control.
• Familiarity with DFMEA, Red X, DFSS, or fishbone problem-solving methodologies.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis for cast and machined components.
