TL;DR

DRE - USB Device Charging (Automotive): Managing the definition, design, and validation of USB and wireless charging systems for vehicles with an accent on technical project management and supplier coordination. Focus on developing interface control designs, resolving complex hardware/software issues, and ensuring the delivery of safety-critical electronic components.

Location: Hybrid: Must report to Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum

What you will do

• Define requirements and lead the design, analysis, and testing of USB components and wireless charging systems.
• Create and maintain Interface Control Design (ICD) strategies, templates, and technical specifications (SSTS/CTS).
• Lead the resolution of technical issues and manage supplier resident engineers.
• Coordinate cross-functionally within the company and with multiple suppliers to implement product improvements and cost reductions.
• Perform complex design analysis and maintain math/CAD data to provide engineering authority.
• Validate modules and manage part deliveries to benches, vehicle retrofits, and assembly plants.

Requirements

• Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• Knowledge of microcontroller architectures, memory technologies, and programming.
• Understanding of hardware design, failure modes in electronic modules, and vehicle serial data communications.
• Proficiency in writing software/hardware requirements and knowledge of verification/validation processes.
• Ability to translate text-based functional requirements into software algorithms and models.

Nice to have

• Master's of Science degree in a related technical field.
• 8+ years of related experience.
• DFMEA training and DFSS Black Belt Certification.
• Electronic Validation Experience or USB IF Certification.
• Experience with Engineering Change Management and Vehicle Communication Tools.
• Experience in the design and development of Safety Critical Systems.
