What you will do

• Lead reliability and lifecycle management for rotating assets, high-vacuum systems, and complex pumping architectures.
• Develop engineering calculations and technical specifications for pumps, compressors, and mechanical seals.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to drive reliability improvements.
• Review P&IDs and isometric drawings to maintain configuration control.
• Collaborate with NASA civil servants and operations teams to troubleshoot performance issues.
• Provide real-time technical support in a fast-paced operational environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in mechanical design, reliability engineering, or rotating equipment maintenance.
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is required.
• Demonstrated background in selecting and maintaining centrifugal/positive displacement pumps, compressors, and turbines.
• Hands-on experience with industrial vacuum systems and complex pumping architectures.
• High proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, mechanical schematics, and isometric drawings.

Nice to have

• Professional familiarity with ASME and ANSI mechanical standards.
• Experience with condition monitoring tools (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis).
• Direct experience with cryogenic systems or complex low-pressure vacuum architectures.
• Proficiency in CAD software (Inventor, AutoCAD, CREO).
• Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices.
