What you will do
- Lead reliability and lifecycle management for rotating assets, high-vacuum systems, and complex pumping architectures.
- Develop engineering calculations and technical specifications for pumps, compressors, and mechanical seals.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to drive reliability improvements.
- Review P&IDs and isometric drawings to maintain configuration control.
- Collaborate with NASA civil servants and operations teams to troubleshoot performance issues.
- Provide real-time technical support in a fast-paced operational environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in mechanical design, reliability engineering, or rotating equipment maintenance.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is required.
- Demonstrated background in selecting and maintaining centrifugal/positive displacement pumps, compressors, and turbines.
- Hands-on experience with industrial vacuum systems and complex pumping architectures.
- High proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, mechanical schematics, and isometric drawings.
Nice to have
- Professional familiarity with ASME and ANSI mechanical standards.
- Experience with condition monitoring tools (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis).
- Direct experience with cryogenic systems or complex low-pressure vacuum architectures.
- Proficiency in CAD software (Inventor, AutoCAD, CREO).
- Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices.
