Engineering Manager (Platform)

Location: Remote (United States or Canada) or Hybrid (San Francisco HQ)

Salary: $255,000 – $295,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Lead and grow a team of platform engineers through mentorship, feedback, and technical guidance.
• Drive execution of key product initiatives from ideation to launch, balancing speed with reliability.
• Engage deeply in technical discussions and guide system design and architectural tradeoffs.
• Partner with Runtime, Security, and Product teams to align priorities and deliver impactful features.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement in engineering practices.
• Break down complex problems into incremental milestones to support long-term platform evolution.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States or Canada.
• 8+ years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer shipping products for other developers.
• 4+ years of experience managing people, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
• Strong technical background in system design and architecture.
• Deep experience with open source infrastructure tools, build/deployment systems, CI/CD, and observability.
• Generally not eligible for new visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Background working on highly scalable distributed systems or infrastructure platforms.
• Experience managing large fleets of developer environments, sandboxes, or testing ecosystems.
• Experience building platforms or products used directly by developers.
