Senior Mission Lead Systems Engineer (Space Systems)

Location: Remote; applicants must be eligible to access U.S. export-controlled information under ITAR/EAR requirements.

Salary: $142,000–$208,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end technical success of a designated spacecraft mission from concept and formulation through on-orbit operations.
• Translate customer objectives and stakeholder needs into verifiable technical requirements, ICDs, CONOPS, and subsystem budgets.
• Lead cross-functional technical trades, design changes, risk mitigation, requirements traceability, verification, and validation.
• Serve as the primary technical interface for customers, partners, and internal systems, hardware, software, data, ground-segment, and operations teams.
• Lead design, test-readiness, and flight-readiness reviews and monitor spacecraft and data pipelines during on-orbit operations.
• Improve mission-development and operations processes, tools, and systems-engineering methodologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering and 10+ years of experience in complex systems, mission architecture, and/or spacecraft design.
• Experience serving as a technical lead on a complex system for a U.S. Government, DoD, Intelligence Community, or demanding commercial customer.
• Extensive experience with system modeling, systems analysis, simulations, system integration, and delivery of complex systems.
• Experience with formal requirements management for multidisciplinary projects and demonstrated project-management skills.
• Experience interfacing directly with external customers and coordinating across engineering disciplines.
• Must meet applicable ITAR/EAR eligibility requirements for access to export-controlled information.

Nice to have

• Experience with major space programs, U.S. Government or Intelligence Community acquisition programs, and mission-assurance standards.
• Knowledge of U.S. Government and Intelligence Community contracts and proposal development for government programs.
• Python or Julia skills and familiarity with version control and code-review processes.
• Experience with remote-sensing instruments and associated data pipelines.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
