Systems Engineer III (Aerospace Modeling and Control)

Base salary: $103,100–$151,400 USD per year

What you will do

• Develop models and control algorithms for propulsion, flight control, and guidance subsystems.
• Build simulation architectures supporting design iteration, verification, and validation.
• Perform dynamic system studies, data analysis, model validation, and simulation fidelity improvements.
• Define control system topologies, gain-tuning methods, and model anchoring techniques.
• Conduct requirements derivation, margin analysis, performance trade studies, Monte Carlo, sensitivity, and parametric analyses.
• Collaborate with GNC, software, systems, and test teams; document technical work and mentor less experienced engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related STEM field.
• 4–7 years of experience in modeling, simulation, control systems, or estimation algorithm development within aerospace or defense.
• Strong knowledge of dynamic system modeling, control system design, simulation infrastructure, classical control, and model verification and validation.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or equivalent modeling and control toolchains.
• Experience with physics-based modeling, multi-domain simulation, propulsion system modeling, data analysis, and SysML diagrams.
• U.S. citizenship is required, and applicants must have or be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience modeling solid rocket motors and controllable solids.
• Experience supporting DoD, Missile Defense Agency, or equivalent government programs.
