Controller (Finance): Establishing the accounting and tax functions from the ground up for an open superintelligence research organization with an accent on technical accounting, global tax strategy, and financial reporting. Focus on scaling internal controls, managing external audits, and designing complex deal structures for sovereign and enterprise contracts.

What you will do

• Own the full month-end and quarter-end close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Lead technical accounting determinations for revenue recognition, equity, and leases.
• Develop and manage global tax strategy, planning, and compliance across federal and international jurisdictions.
• Oversee the end-to-end external audit relationship and deliverables.
• Build the accounting and tax teams and establish internal controls and reporting infrastructure.
• Manage treasury operations, payroll, AP, and AR.

Requirements

• 7-10+ years of relevant finance and accounting experience.
• CPA certification is required; Big 4 experience is strongly preferred.
• Deep technical accounting expertise in ASC 606, ASC 718, ASC 842, and ASC 360.
• Proven track record of building accounting functions from scratch in high-growth tech companies.
• Strong knowledge of federal and international tax, including transfer pricing and cross-border operations.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to New York or San Francisco.
