Salary: $230,000 - $300,000 USD

What you will do

• Lead a team of accountants while remaining hands-on with close materials and managing a portfolio of accounts.
• Drive month-end and quarter-end close acceleration, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance commentary.
• Develop and maintain technical accounting policies, SOPs, and a controls framework aligned with US GAAP.
• Implement process automation by leveraging Claude and other AI tools to eliminate low-value manual work.
• Manage external audit responses and oversee SOX control preparation, execution, and remediation.
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Tax, and People Operations to align accounting with business expansion.

Requirements

• Active CPA license (required).
• Roughly 10 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Must be based in or able to work from San Francisco or Seattle (Hybrid).
• Big 4 audit foundation is strongly preferred.
• Experience designing and operating controls in a SOX environment.
• Proven track record of managing or coaching junior accountants.

Nice to have

• Public company accounting experience and exposure to financial reporting cycles.
• Experience leading ERP implementations in high-growth environments.
• Deep expertise in ASC 842, ASC 718, commissions, or payroll accounting.
• Experience building accounting infrastructure (Chart of Accounts, allocation methods) from the ground up.
