What you will do
- Evaluate loan applications and assess borrowers' creditworthiness while adhering to departmental SLAs.
- Verify income and employment, review credit history, and calculate the value of borrowers' collateral and assets.
- Analyze personal and business income tax returns to prepare Self-Employed Analysis for mortgage qualification.
- Review appraisals (AVM, PICR, 1004, 1025) to confirm they meet loan standards and support market value.
- Approve or deny loan requests based on home loan underwriting guidelines and investor criteria.
- Monitor Regulation B compliance and document reasons for approval or denial via adverse action notices.
Requirements
- 3-5 years (UW II) or 5+ years (UW III) of underwriting experience in home loans, including 1st mortgage products and HELOCs.
- Must reside in the greater Phoenix area.
- Proven experience with self-employment verification and advanced income calculation.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume mortgage environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
