Sr. Staff VLM (Automotive)

Location: Southern California-based applicants

Salary: $196,000–$245,000 annually, plus potential annual performance bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Partner with the vehicle Chief Engineer to translate technical strategy into execution plans for a vehicle zone.
• Coordinate engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing activities against technical, financial, and timing milestones.
• Own the zone Bill of Materials, identify cost risks, and lead cost-reduction initiatives covering piece price, tooling, and inbound logistics.
• Integrate sourcing strategies, supplier timing, and manufacturing readiness into the master program schedule.
• Drive virtual releases, Design Maturity stages DM1–5, validation planning, and end-to-end readiness from design through manufacturing.
• Establish product goals, use benchmarking insights to guide domain strategy, and improve processes that accelerate execution.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in automotive program management or engineering leadership.
• Experience supporting large-scale vehicle programs through launch.
• Ability to support a Single Point Owner while independently driving large cross-functional teams.
• Deep understanding of automotive cost structures, including piece price, tooling, and inbound logistics.
• Technical breadth across multiple domains and the ability to resolve complex trade-offs.
• Strong expertise in Underbody/Tech or Upper Body/Functions systems.
