TL;DR
Employee Relations & Investigations Partner (AI): Managing complex workplace investigations and refining the ER function to ensure fairness and compliance within a high-growth AI research organization with an accent on scalable processes and sensitive case management. Focus on designing ER frameworks, advising on senior performance management, and partnering with legal and security teams.
Location: Hybrid (San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle). Staff are expected to be in the office at least 25% of the time.
Salary: $245,000 - $310,000 USD

What you will do
- Conduct complex, high-stakes workplace investigations regarding harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and policy violations.
- Serve as a senior advisor to People Partners on complex performance management matters and separations, particularly for senior employees.
- Develop and operationalize scalable ER processes, policies, and documentation across multiple regions.
- Create education strategies and deliver training on ER best practices to managers and employees.
- Analyze ER metrics and trends to identify systemic issues and inform data-driven policy decisions.
- Partner with Employment Legal, Security, and Compliance teams on risk assessment and sensitive cases.
Requirements
- Experience conducting 50+ workplace investigations, including complex multi-party cases.
- Ability to manage highly sensitive situations with discretion and write legally defensible investigation reports.
- Experience advising on performance management in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Proven experience supporting global clients and managing international ER issues.
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be based in or able to work from San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle.
Nice to have
- 8+ years of progressive experience in employee relations, workplace investigations, or employment law.
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
- AWI-CH, SPHR, or similar professional certifications.
- Background working at technology companies or startups.
- Experience building ER functions from the ground up during periods of significant growth.
