Structural Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: On-site in Los Angeles, California, United States. Willingness to travel up to 25% is required.

Salary: $106,000–$181,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Translate production equipment requirements, geotechnical surveys, and OEM inputs into structural and foundation designs for permitted manufacturing facilities.
• Design concrete slabs, equipment foundations, piles, steel support pedestals, anchor bolts, and embed details for heavy and precision machinery.
• Coordinate with equipment OEMs on loads, anchoring, vibration, and tolerance requirements.
• Lead structural schematic design through construction drawings, permitting, and on-site execution.
• Manage critical-path structural design, procurement, and construction issues, including long-lead concrete, rebar, and structural steel.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, construction, facilities, geotechnical, architectural, mechanical, and electrical teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in structural or building-systems design, including new manufacturing or production facilities.
• Experience designing concrete and equipment foundations, including slab-on-grade foundations, pads, pedestals, and anchorage for heavy or precision equipment.
• Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and industrial foundation design.
• Professional licensure is preferred, or clear progress toward it; an SE license is a plus.
• Proficiency with Procore or an equivalent construction management platform.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, nuclear, energy, or advanced manufacturing.
• Experience coordinating equipment OEM installations and designing for dynamic equipment, vibration isolation, cranes, and overhead material handling.
• Experience with SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD, RISA, Revit, or AutoCAD.
• Practical knowledge of field installation, constructability, and design-for-construction or design-for-operations.
