TL;DR

Electrical Design Engineer (Satellite Technology): Developing electrical and communication interfaces for satellite payloads with an accent on high-speed digital interfaces and mixed-signal circuitry. Focus on designing hardware solutions for optical, Ku-band, and S-band communication routers and ensuring reliability through radiation and EMI/EMC analysis.

Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario

What you will do

  • Develop hardware solutions for space technology, specifically for communication routers supporting Optical, Ku-band, and S-band protocols.
  • Conduct and document critical engineering analysis, including derating, reliability, radiation, EMI/EMC, FMECA, and power budgets.
  • Lead pathfinding development for future satellite generations involving 10G+ Ethernet, PCIE5, UFS, and advanced processors.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, block diagrams, and system architecture reports.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with RF, mechanical, software, and FPGA teams to deliver end-to-end product solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and validating complex electronic hardware from concept to production.
  • Proven ability to lead hardware development, covering schematic design and PCB layout oversight.
  • Experience integrating processors, FPGAs, and SoCs into high-performance embedded systems.
  • Ability to design mixed-signal circuitry incorporating ADCs, DACs, and precision analog signal chains.
  • Experience with memory subsystems such as QSPI, eMMC, DDR3/DDR4, or UFS.
