TL;DR

Senior Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and certifying safety-critical flight systems for automated aviation with an accent on system architecture, development assurance, and safety engineering. Focus on leading cross-functional RCCAs, performing complex trade studies, and ensuring compliance with ARP-4754 guidance.

Location: Remote or onsite in Mountain View, CA. Must be a U.S. person or compliant with U.S. export control laws.

Salary: $190,000 – $300,000 + Equity

What you will do

  • Define and deliver development plans, processes, work instructions, and training.
  • Lead significant program areas across system requirements, design, validation, and verification.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in avionics or related system domains.
  • Perform trade studies to assess performance, complexity, risk, and cost of technical solutions.
  • Execute system activities according to ARP-4754 guidance.
  • Lead cross-functional Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) and Integral Processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Deep experience in specifying, designing, and testing complex safety-critical avionics certification programs.
  • Technical expertise in domains such as Propulsion, Avionics, Flight Controls, or Data Networks.
  • Experience planning and executing ARP-4754 processes and leading audits with airworthiness authorities.
  • Compliance with U.S. export control laws (U.S. person status required/preferred).
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in Science or Engineering.
  • Proven experience leading engagement with airworthiness authorities for novel technologies.
  • Experience leading inter-disciplinary teams through architectural trade studies or root cause investigations.
