Structural Project Engineer

Location: San Diego, California, USA; hybrid work schedule. Travel to out-of-town projects or meetings may be required, with approximately 10% national travel.

Base salary: $105,000–$140,000 USD per year, plus performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Manage structural engineering tasks and produce technically accurate calculations, reports, drawings, Revit models, and construction documents.
• Apply building code provisions and interpret material design standards for building structures.
• Use RISA, Enercalc, RAM, Bluebeam, Revit, ETABS, and related structural analysis and design software.
• Support construction administration, including submittal reviews and responses to field questions.
• Coordinate with clients, project team members, and other disciplines on technical design issues, document preparation, and schedules.
• Review work for accuracy, track project costs, meet contractual obligations, and supervise or mentor Staff Engineers and CAD staff.

Requirements

• 5–10+ years of related experience in building design.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent structural engineering coursework.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience with Revit, Building Information Modeling, building structure design, and structural analysis software.
• Experience designing steel, concrete, and wood-framed structures.
• Ability to evaluate structural systems and members, communicate clearly, collaborate, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

Nice to have

• Structural engineering license in California.
• Experience with high-seismic, high-wind, or blast-resistant design.
• Strong interest in sustainability in the construction industry.
