Salary: $234,000 — $253,000 USD

What you will do

• Lead the strategy and execution for cloud-native data lake and lake house architectures on AWS.
• Oversee ingestion, transformation, quality, and governance pipelines for analytics and ML workloads.
• Drive architectural decisions for high-availability systems using AWS services and Snowflake.
• Establish engineering best practices including CI/CD, testing, and observability.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, well-modeled data products.
• Manage, grow, and mentor a team of data engineers and architects.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering with 5+ years in large-scale data architecture.
• Expertise in designing and operating data lake and lake house architectures on AWS.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and data modeling.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
• Deep understanding of data governance, quality, security, and privacy.
• Must be able to work from the San Diego office in a hybrid capacity.

Nice to have

• Experience in biotech, life sciences, or regulated data environments.
• Familiarity with ML/AI workflows and MLOps platforms.
• Experience with cost optimization for large-scale AWS systems.
• Knowledge of metadata management and data catalog platforms.
