TL;DR

Director of Regulatory Affairs (Nuclear): Overseeing licensing engagement, strategy, and execution with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to drive the development and commercialization of portable nuclear microreactors. Focus on crafting modern regulatory strategies based on engineering principles and managing end-to-end licensing execution.

Location: On-site in Washington, DC. Must be compliant with U.S. export controls; no visa sponsorship available.

Salary: $186,000 – $258,300 + Equity

hirify.global is a startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors to provide clean, reliable energy to remote areas.

What you will do

  • Lead the regulatory and licensing team, providing strategic guidance and leadership.
  • Develop a modern regulatory strategy based on engineering principles to bring the safest product to market quickly.
  • Manage end-to-end licensing execution and establish principle-based standards for NRC interactions.
  • Foster partnerships with internal stakeholders and external governing bodies, including in-person NRC visits.
  • Oversee the quality, timeliness, and completeness of all regulatory submissions.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to integrate regulatory processes with quality assurance standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 8+ years of experience in nuclear regulatory and licensing efforts.
  • 2+ years of experience leading a team.
  • Must be based in Washington, DC.
  • Must be able to comply with U.S. export controls (no visa sponsorship provided).
  • Ability to travel and attend in-person meetings.

Nice to have

  • Direct experience working with the NRC.
  • Experience with 10 CFR 50 and 10 CFR 70.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical information for non-technical audiences.
  • Proven track record of creating coalitions within the nuclear industry.
