AI Controls Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada; hybrid workplace with specific in-office days each month

Annual base salary: $66,300–$94,850

What you will do

• Deploy, test, measure, and verify AI control algorithms for existing building control systems.
• Analyze and improve HVAC controls to optimize energy consumption and zoning comfort.
• Contribute to HVAC algorithm development and create new control sequences with customers.
• Support building deployments, commissioning, performance analysis, reporting, and corrective action planning.
• Analyze mechanical plans, wiring diagrams, trend logs, and building performance data to identify and resolve issues.
• Train customers on HVAC controls and document processes, procedures, tools, and templates.

Requirements

• DEC or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience with building automation and HVAC control systems.
• Experience with DDC, PLC, or similar programming in BAS and HVAC controls.
• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, building operations, control theory, commissioning, and protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
• Python programming experience, strong reporting and energy-management skills, and the ability to analyze trend logs and performance data.
• French-English bilingualism is required; full professional English proficiency is required for collaboration with English-speaking stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with proprietary control systems such as JCI, Siemens, Honeywell, Alerton, Delta, Niagara, or Schneider/TAC.
