Electrical Engineer, Relay Settings

Location: Fully remote; the position can only be performed in the United States. Candidates may also be located in Canada or Puerto Rico.

Salary: $98,614–$167,644 per year

What you will do

• Develop relay settings and protection philosophies for transformers, buses, breaker controls, distribution feeders, capacitor banks, transmission lines, and related equipment.
• Review protection and control design packages.
• Provide remote field support to relay test engineers during settings installation.
• Model electrical systems using CAPE, ASPEN, and CYME.
• Prepare technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and engineering calculations.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and continuously improve engineering and technical expertise.

Requirements

• BS degree in engineering, preferably electrical or computer engineering.
• 5+ years of experience developing relay settings and protection philosophies for transmission, sub-transmission, or distribution equipment.
• 5+ years of experience with electrical engineering theories and principles.
• Must be located in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico.
• Ability to work remotely without supervision, manage assignments, communicate clearly, and meet budget and schedule requirements.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineering license in at least one state.
• Experience with 69kV Viper recloser applications, IEC 61850, Schweitzer relays, and engineering modeling or automation tools.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, or Access.
• Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills with a commitment to continuous learning.
