Senior Software Developer - Cloud Platform

Location: Toronto, Canada — hybrid workplace

Salary: CAD 130,000–150,000 per year, plus participation in a discretionary bonus plan

What you will do

• Develop the Horizon Cloud Platform, a large-scale distributed system supporting hirify.global SaaS products.
• Design and build high-performance, real-time microservices with significant ownership of key stack components.
• Work with Kubernetes, Redis, event-driven message bus systems, asynchronous Python, Golang, and open-source technologies.
• Build and improve REST APIs as part of an API-first product strategy.
• Research, write, and edit software designs, technical requirements, evaluation plans, test results, manuals, and formal recommendations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years of commercial experience with cloud distributed systems and high-scale designs.
• Commercial experience with Golang and asynchronous Python.
• Experience with cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, Redis, Elasticsearch, SQL, RabbitMQ, or equivalent tools.
• Strong understanding of microservice architecture, cloud security, global network infrastructure, distributed systems, load balancing, and cloud service troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP/S, plus experience with AWS.
• Understanding of SDLC, Agile, software engineering methodologies, teamwork, communication, and collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with GCP or Azure.
• Familiarity with Pandas, Polars, OLAP, DuckDB, ClickHouse, or similar data analytics tools.
• Kubernetes Application Developer Certification such as CKAD.
