Software Engineer II (Backend)

Location: Remote in Canada

Salary: $128,000–$188,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Break larger engineering projects into tasks, deliver work in phases, and collaborate to ensure timely delivery.
• Partner with product management, design, analytics, and cross-functional teams to evaluate technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
• Build and operate systems that maintain accurate customer accounts and resolve issues after card transactions settle.
• Create and monitor metrics, support system availability, and participate in on-call and operational work.
• Contribute to team growth through knowledge sharing, feedback, and participation in interviews.

Requirements

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to write clear, well-tested, and extensible code across multiple software components.
• Equivalent practical experience or a bachelor's degree in a related field.
