Body Shop Dimensional Engineer (Automotive)

Focus on solving dimensional defects (GCA, DRR, DRL) and optimizing manufacturing processes for body shop welding and fastening.

What you will do

• Create and implement daily quality control procedures for body shop dimensional control, welding, dispense, fastening, and metal finish.
• Lead Dimensional Op Techs and CMM Operators to monitor and achieve body dimensional metric goals.
• Analyze dimensional data from CMM and Perceptron Vision Systems to drive the build to nominal.
• Provide corrective actions for customer dissatisfiers affecting GCA, DRR, and DRL.
• Design and improve manufacturing processes, including machinery error-proofing and equipment evaluation.
• Host weekly Dimensional Wall Reviews and present countermeasures to plant leadership to reduce top defects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or currently pursuing) or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience in body shop tooling and 1+ year in manufacturing dimensional processes.
• Must be able to work and rotate through all 3 shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship; candidates must not require it now or in the future.
• Experience with process validation for new equipment build, installation, and start-up.
• Ability to travel 10% or more domestically and internationally based on business needs.

Nice to have

• Experience with Perceptron, Leica, or VRSI.
• Knowledge of CMM, Hexagon, and Scan Box equipment.
• Proficiency with Teamcenter Vis Mockup.
