What you will do

• Lead and grow two engineering teams responsible for the safety backend, including decision platforms, classification systems, and intake pipelines.
• Drive the automation roadmap in collaboration with Safety ML to optimize the balance between AI and human review.
• Own the queue routing and internal tooling that operations teams and vendor partners rely on.
• Consolidate fragmented systems onto core infrastructure and set high standards for on-call, incident response, and technical review.
• Hire, coach, and mentor senior engineering leaders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong background in backend and distributed systems.
• 5+ years of engineering management experience, including at least 2 years managing other managers.
• Proven experience leading organizations of 20+ engineers through multiple EMs.
• Proficiency in AI and ML systems to effectively partner with ML organizations on decision pipelines.
• Experience working with operations or human-in-the-loop teams, including QA and calibration.
• Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Nice to have

• Experience in Trust & Safety, fraud, integrity, or abuse engineering at a consumer platform.
• Background in building ML platforms or MLOps at scale.
• Experience managing vendor-based operations (BPO) or building tools for review teams.
• Knowledge of payments, fraud, or commerce infrastructure.
• Passion for gaming and the communities served by hirify.global.
