Engineering Leader (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; office-centric hybrid schedule with in-office days on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Work from home on Wednesdays is generally available; Friday arrangements depend on the role and partner teams.

Base salary: $306,000–$360,000 per year, plus potential equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead strategy, execution, and goal alignment across the AI Teammates Platform, AI Teammates Experience, AI Chat Experience, and Agent Orchestration teams.
• Own technical strategy for model rollouts, evaluation infrastructure, tool orchestration, Model Context Protocol, proactivity engines, and production observability.
• Guide development of chat surfaces, discovery and onboarding flows, explainability features, human-in-the-loop workflows, and governance experiences.
• Build integrations, Agent Skills, and MCP frameworks connecting AI Teammates with Slack, Salesforce, coding agents, and internal systems.
• Scale the engineering organization by recruiting, retaining, and developing engineering managers and senior technical leaders.
• Align engineering, product, design, security, legal, executive, enterprise customer, and frontier AI lab stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience and 4+ years leading multiple engineering teams or managers.
• Experience delivering complex production systems and driving multi-team strategy.
• Deep expertise in applied AI, LLM evaluation frameworks, agent and tool orchestration, MCP, proactivity models, and observability.
• Experience with backend and systems reliability, complex full-stack product interfaces, and enterprise governance and permissions at scale.
• Strong strategic trade-off, risk management, communication, hiring, mentoring, and organizational development skills.
