TL;DR
Senior Investment Accountant (Insurance): Accounting and reporting of investments under U.S. GAAP and U.S. statutory standards, including monthly and quarterly close activities, disclosures, reconciliations, and branch reporting with an accent on investment accounting and insurance reporting. Focus on preparing statutory schedules, maintaining internal-control documentation, coordinating with financial reporting and investment management teams, and delivering complex financial analyses.

Location: Warren, New Jersey, United States; hybrid work with three days per week in the office and the remaining days from home

Salary: $75,000–$110,000 annually

What you will do

  • Account for and report investments under U.S. GAAP and U.S. statutory standards.
  • Participate in and coordinate monthly and quarterly investment close processes.
  • Prepare U.S. statutory investment schedules and U.S. GAAP investment disclosures.
  • Support local reporting for foreign branches and subsidiaries.
  • Coordinate with financial reporting and investment management teams.
  • Prepare internal-control exhibits and schedules, account reconciliations, recurring analyses, and ad hoc strategic analyses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting.
  • 3+ years of investment accounting experience.
  • Solid understanding of investment accounting and reporting under U.S. GAAP.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and strong knowledge of accounting and financial processes.
  • Ability to work from the Warren, New Jersey office three days per week.

Nice to have

  • CPA or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in public accounting or public-company reporting.
  • Experience with U.S. insurance statutory accounting and reporting.
  • Knowledge of PAM, Bloomberg, Oracle, or the insurance/reinsurance industry.
