Director of Data Engineering (MedTech): Leading a team of Customer Engineers to implement data integrations for biopharma clients with an accent on operational excellence and scalable implementation processes. Location: In person 4x a week in the Nomad office (New York, NY)

Salary: $170,000 - $230,000 + equity

What you will do

• Manage and mentor a team of 5+ Customer Engineers, establishing clear expectations and career development paths.
• Own the quality bar and KPIs for all customer implementations, focusing on data accuracy and resolution timelines.
• Design and implement scalable, repeatable processes for data integration, mapping, and go-live workflows.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Product, and Implementation leadership to resolve delivery blockers and ensure smooth handoffs.
• Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex data problems and integration challenges.
• Drive architectural decisions and platform improvements to reduce implementation complexity and improve data quality.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in customer engineering, solutions engineering, or similar technical customer-facing roles.
• 3+ years of experience managing or leading a technical team.
• High proficiency in SQL (2+ years) and strong understanding of modern data pipelines (ETL/ELT).
• Experience building and operationalizing implementation processes for complex enterprise software deployments.
• Must be based in or able to work in person 4x a week in New York, NY.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare technology, life sciences, or pharmaceutical services.
• Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., SFTP, HL7, FHIR, EDI).
• Experience with AWS services and cloud-native data infrastructure.
• Background in building implementation programs at a high-growth B2B SaaS company.
