Salary: $239,000–$275,000

What you will do

• Lead and manage the Data Platform Engineering team, overseeing end-to-end design and operational excellence.
• Build and optimize scalable data abstractions, pipelines, and frameworks to support exponential data growth.
• Drive an AI-native engineering culture by integrating cutting-edge tools into development workflows.
• Translate complex business requirements into well-scoped, composable architectural solutions.
• Mentor team members through design reviews and root cause analyses to elevate technical rigor.
• Manage stakeholder relationships across Engineering and Product to align team priorities with business goals.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience in Big Data and distributed systems.
• 2+ years of engineering management experience with a track record of building high-performing teams.
• Expertise in batch processing (Hadoop, Spark, EMR) and stream processing (Kafka, RedPanda).
• Proficiency with modern data stack tools including Temporal, Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, dbt, and Soda.
• Proven ability to operate effectively in fast-paced startup environments.
• Must be based in New York City and able to work onsite 3 days per week.

• Experience managing healthcare data standards such as HIPAA and EDI.
