What you will do
- Manage press and media relations, including drafting releases, statements, and building reporter relationship maps.
- Develop communications materials to advance legislative and policy priorities in coordination with Government Affairs.
- Prepare company leadership for engagements with Congress, the White House, and executive branch officials.
- Write speeches, op-eds, talking points, and scripts for senior executives across various public-facing contexts.
- Build the company's communications infrastructure, including message frameworks and announcement playbooks.
- Ensure communications accuracy and compliance with export-control (ITAR) and OPSEC discipline.
Requirements
- 4-7 years of experience in press, congressional communications, public affairs, or journalism.
- Direct experience in a congressional office, executive branch agency, or political campaign.
- Exceptional writing skills across diverse formats, including op-eds, speeches, and briefing documents.
- Working knowledge of the US legislative process and defense policy funding decisions.
- Must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee to meet ITAR requirements.
- Ability to travel frequently (up to 50%) and respond to crisis communications if necessary.
Nice to have
- Existing relationships with defense reporters, Pentagon public affairs, or congressional communications staff.
- Experience with HASC/SASC or national-security legislation.
- Background in private-sector defense contracting or venture-backed technology.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior staff.
