TL;DR

Fractional HRBP / HR Generalist (M&A): Delivering human-centric HR solutions and supporting M&A integration activities with an accent on organizational design, workforce transitions, and employee communications. Focus on managing HR workflows in Paylocity, navigating complex organizational change, and providing strategic HR partnership for client engagements.

Location: Hybrid: Must be based in Chicago, IL

Salary: $50 - $75/hr

What you will do

  • Support M&A integration activities, including organizational design, cultural onboarding, and workforce transitions.
  • Deliver human-centric HR solutions that improve workplace experiences and align people strategies with business objectives.
  • Manage and optimize HR workflows and employee data within Paylocity.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and partner to client stakeholders throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Apply consulting and project management best practices to drive measurable value for clients.
  • Track billable work and maintain accurate project documentation.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Paylocity (configuration, reporting, and operations) is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in M&A HR, including due diligence support and integration planning.
  • 5+ years of experience in an HRBP or HR Generalist role, preferably in consulting or professional services.
  • Availability to work on-site in Chicago on a hybrid schedule.
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.

Nice to have

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certifications.
  • Experience supporting PE-backed or high-growth organizations through rapid change.
  • Familiarity with multi-state HR compliance, particularly Illinois employment law.
