What you will do

• Develop components for wide-area, heterogeneous quantum networks.
• Lead the design, simulation, and optimization of integrated photonic devices for quantum processing and sensing.
• Create photonic circuits that support quantum algorithms, ensuring high fidelity and scalability.
• Manage the tape-out process and coordinate with photonic foundries to ensure designs meet specifications.
• Perform optical testing and characterization using spectroscopy, microscopy, and interferometry.
• Mentor junior engineers and stay updated on latest advancements in integrated photonics and quantum technologies.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in physics, applied physics, or a closely related technical field (PhD/Post-Doc strongly preferred).
• United States citizenship is mandatory to meet eligibility requirements for Secret security clearance.
• Expertise in photonic device simulation software such as Lumerical or COMSOL.
• Hands-on experience with integrated photonics tape-outs and fabrication processes.
• Strong understanding of quantum optics and quantum information science.
• Experience with optical testing and characterization of photonic devices.

Nice to have

• Postdoctoral experience in integrated photonics or quantum technologies.
• Familiarity with advanced photonic integration platforms like silicon photonics or nonlinear materials.
• Knowledge of quantum algorithms and protocols for computing and communication.
• Experience applying machine learning techniques to optimize photonic designs.
• Experience using wafer probers and electron scanning microscopes.
