TL;DR

Hardware Quality Engineer (Hardware): Designing and owning the quality system for a diverse hardware ecosystem including payment terminals and POS accessories with an accent on reliability and supplier quality. Focus on performing root cause analysis, implementing CAPA/8D processes, and establishing quality gates for hardware launches.

Location: Remote (Canada) or Hybrid in Montreal or Toronto. Priority is given to candidates based in these cities or those willing to relocate.

Salary: $80,000–$110,000 CAD

What you will do

  • Define and maintain the overall hardware quality strategy, including testing frameworks and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead structured investigations into hardware failures and perform root cause analysis to ensure permanent resolution.
  • Manage supplier performance monitoring and establish inspection plans for inbound inventory.
  • Support returns triage and make data-driven disposition decisions.
  • Publish recurring quality dashboards and narratives for stakeholders and leadership.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in hardware quality, supplier quality, or reliability engineering for devices and peripherals.
  • Hands-on experience building test plans, validation protocols, and launch quality gates.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware in the field, including networking basics and device OS logs.
  • Proven track record with CAPA/8D and supplier management (audits, scorecards).
  • Fluency in English as a working language.
  • Must be based in Canada or be willing to relocate to Montreal or Toronto.
