TL;DR

Trade Compliance Manager (Legal): Developing and executing trade compliance strategies to ensure strict adherence to ITAR, EAR, and export control regulations within a defense technology context. Focus on managing Export Management Control Policies, conducting regular audits, and handling DDTC licensing applications.

Location: Onsite in Los Angeles. Must be a U.S. Person.

Salary: $115,000 - $180,000

What you will do

  • Develop, implement, and maintain trade policies and procedures for Department of State, Commerce, and Treasury regulations.
  • Establish and manage the company’s Export Management Control Policy (EMCP) consistent with DDTC requirements.
  • Oversee trade compliance audits and investigations to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Determine classification and licensing requirements (ITAR, EAR) and apply for licenses via DECCS and SNAP-R.
  • Design and deliver tailored export control and global trade compliance training for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with IT and Engineering teams to ensure secure system architectures for processing controlled information.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in trade compliance roles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. regulations, including USML, ECCN, EAR, and CCL.
  • Hands-on experience with DDTC licensing applications such as DSP-5, TAA, and MLA.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, business development, and legal teams.
