Engineering Manager (Anti-Abuse): Building and leading 's Anti-Abuse team from the ground up to protect the platform from adversarial actors with an accent on AI-native abuse, identity infrastructure, and fraud prevention. Focus on designing progressive verification systems, prototyping detections using AI tools, and establishing core anti-abuse metrics.
Location: Hybrid: Must be based in Foster City, CA (In-office requirement: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday)
Salary: $210,000 – $275,000 + Equity

What you will do
- Define the 0-to-1 anti-abuse roadmap and threat model, prioritizing vectors like phishing, cryptomining, and AI agent exploitation.
- Design progressive verification and identity infrastructure (the "ladder of trust") to gate platform capabilities.
- Act as a hands-on manager, using AI coding tools to prototype detections and build internal tooling.
- Establish a measurement foundation, including data pipelines and dashboards for abuse rates and fraud loss.
- Hire and grow a high-leverage team of software engineers and data analysts.
- Partner cross-functionally with Support, Legal, Security, and Growth teams to balance fraud prevention and conversion.
Requirements
- 6 to 10+ years of engineering experience with 2+ years of team management, preferably in anti-abuse or trust and safety.
- Hands-on orientation with a current practice of writing code and reviewing PRs.
- Experience building scalable detection and enforcement systems (rules engines, ML risk scoring, reputation systems).
- Strong product and metrics intuition with a track record of defining success for ambiguous problems.
- Ability to communicate clearly in a 0-to-1 environment.
- Must be based in or able to work from the Foster City, CA office.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI-native abuse vectors like prompt injection and LLM token farming.
- Familiarity with payment fraud, card testing, or promotional abuse.
- Experience integrating KYC and identity providers (e.g., Persona, Socure, Stripe Identity).
- Background at a hypergrowth consumer platform, developer tool, or cloud provider.
