Quality Engineer (Energy)

TL;DR

Quality Engineer (Hardware/Energy): Managing quality across supply chain and manufacturing operations for AI energy infrastructure with an accent on supplier qualification and QMS development. Focus on driving root-cause investigations, establishing inspection plans, and scaling reliability for the P3 solar energy system.

Location: Austin, TX. Relocation is required (assistance provided).

What you will do

• Manage incoming, in-process, and final quality for assigned commodities, sub-assemblies, and finished products.
• Qualify new suppliers through on-site audits, first-article inspections (FAI), and PPAP-style submissions.
• Develop inspection and control plans, including acceptance criteria for purchased and in-house components.
• Lead root-cause investigations using 8D, 5-Why, and Ishikawa methodologies to drive CAPA to closure.
• Partner with design engineering on DFM/DFA reviews and translate design intent into GD&T specifications.
• Build and evolve the company's Quality Management System (QMS) from the ground up.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or a related engineering field.
• 4+ years of quality engineering experience in a hardware manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with supplier quality, audits, FAI, PPAP, and SCARs.
• Proficiency with GD&T and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and statistical tools (SPC, Cpk, DOE).
• Ability to travel domestically and occasionally internationally (~20%).

Nice to have

• Experience in energy, aerospace, automotive, or other high-reliability hardware industries.
• Exposure to welded/brazed assemblies, pressure vessels, or thermal systems.
• ASQ certification (CQE, CQA, CSSBB) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
• Experience with ERP/MES/QMS platforms such as NetSuite, Arena, or Propel.
