What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain a QMS aligned with ISO 9001:2015 and lead the company through initial certification.
• Own all QMS documentation, including the quality manual, SOPs, work instructions, forms, and records.
• Develop and manage supplier quality requirements and conduct audits for contract manufacturing partners.
• Partner with R&D and Product teams to establish design controls, change management processes, and design review frameworks.
• Collaborate on comprehensive testing plans, from unit component testing to full system software reliability and performance.
• Serve as the internal subject-matter expert on quality standards and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of QA experience in manufacturing or hardware environments, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience leading or co-leading an ISO 9001 certification effort.
• Strong knowledge of QMS principles: document control, internal auditing, CAPA, and risk-based thinking.
• Experience managing quality requirements with contract manufacturers or external suppliers.
• Must be based in or able to work onsite in San Leandro, California.

Nice to have

• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Lead Implementer certification (ASQ CQM/CQA).
• Exposure to ISO 27001, SOC 2, or experience implementing QMS software.
• Prior experience at a pre-commercial or early-commercial hardware startup.
• Experience with high-speed interfaces, metrology systems, or scientific instrumentation.
• Knowledge of data analytics and data science techniques for quality standards.
