What you will do

• Design and build a scalable multi-country billing platform covering payment scheduling, invoicing, and reconciliation.
• Implement core billing capabilities including VAT logic, fee waiver rules, and pro-rata refunds across EU jurisdictions.
• Develop and manage dunning flows via Adyen and Twikey, ensuring country-specific legal compliance.
• Build secure, observable integrations with payment, banking, and tax providers.
• Collaborate with finance, legal, and insurance carriers to translate regulatory requirements into technical systems.
• Ensure system correctness, idempotency, and operational health for all financial transactions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency with TypeScript and AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, event-driven architectures).
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, data modelling, and API design.
• Proven ability to handle complex edge cases and ensure high consistency in financial systems.
• Experience using AI tools in the development workflow for coding and debugging.
• Must be based in or able to work on-site in Amsterdam

Nice to have

• Experience with payment providers like Adyen, Stripe, or Mollie.
• Background in fintech, insurtech, or large-scale accounting systems.
• Experience with EU VAT and multi-entity invoicing across European markets.
• Knowledge of observability tools such as Sentry or Datadog.
