Software Engineer (Payments)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands (On-site, Hybrid Mode)

Salary: 110,000–160,000 EUR

What you will do

• Build next-generation Payment Acceptance infrastructure and REST services.
• Develop integration components within a backend microservices architecture.
• Design and implement new capabilities aligned with the product roadmap.
• Conduct architectural reviews for current and upcoming solutions.
• Address tech debt and enhance operational effectiveness.
• Collaborate with the payments product team and partner engineering teams.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work from Amsterdam, Netherlands.
• Over 2 years of experience in modern engineering methodologies and quality engineering.
• Strong CS fundamentals with proficiency in Java or Kotlin and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Experience designing REST APIs and handling high-volume distributed systems using Kafka, Cassandra, Hazelcast, or similar.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (GCP or AWS) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with operational tools like New Relic, Datadog, or Prometheus.

Nice to have

• Experience with payment gateways, acquiring, or issuing platforms.
• Expertise integrating Local Payment Methods (iDeal, Klarna, Trustly) or major Cards (Visa, Mastercard).
