TL;DR

Fraud Operations Manager (Fintech): Owning the end-to-end fraud function and detection systems for a service-business platform with an accent on risk mitigation, chargeback optimization, and AI-driven automation. Location: Hybrid - Must be based in New York City or San Francisco (In-office 3-4 days per week, with required attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays).

Salary: $160,000–$180,000 + equity

What you will do

  • Define and own the end-to-end fraud strategy, detection rules, and response protocols.
  • Build investigation workflows for chargebacks, disputes, suspicious transactions, and account takeovers.
  • Reduce fraud losses by identifying emerging attack vectors and implementing controls without degrading user experience.
  • Partner with Payments and Engineering to translate operational pain points into product requirements for fraud tooling.
  • Manage chargeback and dispute operations, focusing on evidence compilation and win-rate optimization.
  • Develop reporting, alerting, and SOPs to provide leadership with visibility into fraud trends and financial exposure.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in fraud operations, payments risk, or trust & safety, ideally within fintech or marketplaces.
  • Hands-on experience managing chargebacks and disputes at scale, including knowledge of card network rules.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret transaction data, set thresholds, and measure impact.
  • Proven use of AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) to build automations and improve efficiency.
  • Familiarity with payment processors such as Stripe or Adyen.
  • Must be commutable to the NYC or SF office.
