Java Software Engineer (Mid-Level)

Location: Hybrid in Manchester, United Kingdom — 3 days per week in the office and 2 days remote.

Salary: From £50,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and support scalable, highly available, performant distributed applications for web, mobile, trading, content, and internal platforms.
• Support discovery, architecture, solution design, and delivery of complex technical solutions across the application delivery stream.
• Establish and evolve architectural patterns with the Principal Engineer, aligning solutions with technology strategy and control standards.
• Support the full development lifecycle, including testing, CI/CD delivery, cloud deployment, live support, and non-functional requirements.
• Transfer technical knowledge, develop squad capabilities, and contribute to technical innovation and R&D.
• Own delegated areas of the technical domain, identify efficiencies, manage priorities, and raise delivery and risk considerations.

Requirements

• Proven software development experience delivering changes to business-critical, highly available customer-facing platforms.
• Experience with diverse technical integrations and the full project lifecycle, from initiation through live support.
• Experience delivering through agile and waterfall methodologies, including CI/CD changes in cloud environments.
• Strong Java development skills with Domain-Driven Design, Test-Driven Development, software architecture, and technical delivery.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, serverless, and AWS, including Step Functions and Lambda.
• Expertise in DevOps and container environments, including Kubernetes, plus Kafka, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, and the Spring ecosystem.
