Group Health and Safety Lead

What you will do

• Lead and continuously improve the Group health and safety management system across multiple jurisdictions.
• Act as the UK statutory competent person and advise senior management, the Board, and business unit owners on compliance, risk mitigation, and liability insurance.
• Lead and develop the international GATES health and safety network, including local compliance oversight.
• Design and oversee incident reporting, recording, investigations, near-miss management, and corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver the health and safety audit programme and collaborate with Learning and Development on training.
• Work with internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers to identify, manage, and monitor health and safety risks.

Requirements

• At least ten years of experience in a senior health and safety role; candidates with less experience may be considered if they have the required knowledge.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Significant experience managing health and safety in an international organisation.
• Strong understanding of the commercial context of a global insurance group.
• Ability to connect, consult, and advise colleagues across the organisation.
