Health and Safety Lead (Manufacturing)

Location: Preston – Bamber Bridge, UK. Site-based role, Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week, with no weekends.

What you will do

• Lead health, safety and environmental performance across the Preston manufacturing, warehouse and distribution operations.
• Lead the World Class Manufacturing Safety Pillar and deliver site HSE improvement plans.
• Coach operational managers and team leaders on behavioural safety, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
• Design and deliver HSE training, awareness programmes, audits, and corrective and preventative actions.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses using structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.
• Maintain ISO 45001 compliance, support certification audits, manage HSE projects, and work with regulators and external bodies.

Requirements

• NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 5/6, or an equivalent health and safety qualification; candidates with a NEBOSH General Certificate and significant manufacturing experience may also be considered.
• Experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting or delivering health, safety, and environmental improvement initiatives.
• Good knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and its practical application.
• Experience influencing managers and engaging employees to improve safety performance.
• Strong coaching, communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• World Class Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, or operational excellence experience.
• Experience with root cause analysis, loss elimination, and HSE performance data.
• IOSH membership or progress toward Chartered status.
