What you will do
- Lead and grow a blended team of FTEs and contractors through coaching, performance management, and actionable feedback.
- Own delivery outcomes for the payments platform, partnering with Product to shape the roadmap and ensure high-quality execution.
- Contribute technically to ADRs, design reviews, and high-stakes code reviews to sharpen system architecture.
- Drive engineering excellence by implementing testing discipline, CI/CD, and DORA metrics.
- Enable the team to adopt AI-assisted development tooling effectively and responsibly.
- Maintain operational excellence, focusing on reconciliation, webhook resilience, and data accuracy during third-party outages.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams with a track record of shipping production software.
- Strong technical background in Node.js and TypeScript, with experience in modern frontend frameworks like Angular.
- Hands-on experience leading teams in fintech or payment systems involving high-transaction volumes and external integrations.
- Production experience with AWS cloud architecture, including containerization (ECS/EKS) and serverless services.
- Experience managing mixed FTE and contractor teams.
- Must be based in the US to be eligible for this role.
Nice to have
- Experience in K-12 EdTech or payroll processing systems.
- Hands-on experience with terminal/EMV or in-person payment integrations.
- Experience launching hosted checkout or embedded payment products.
