Senior Claims Examiner (Commercial Insurance)

Location: Hybrid, with in-office attendance at least two days per week for candidates near an office; qualified remote candidates are also considered. The role can be based in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Manhattan, Scottsdale, or West Hartford, United States.

Salary: $80,000–$125,000 per year

What you will do

• Adjudicate, adjust, and resolve moderate to complex commercial general liability claims, including all phases of litigation.
• Document claim files, correspondence, and notes in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
• Draft coverage letters, including reservation of rights and denial letters.
• Review claim documentation and legal filings to set accurate reserves and identify cases requiring escalation.
• Identify emerging exposures, claims trends, and suspected fraud while coordinating with the special investigations unit.
• Manage defense counsel utilization, support litigation best practices, and participate in claims projects.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of claims handling experience with a commercial general liability insurance carrier.
• Advanced knowledge of claims analysis, adjusting practices, claims documentation, and legal filings.
• Ability to negotiate settlements for moderate to complex claims.
• Experience mentoring and training other claims examiners.
• Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Active insurance adjuster’s license; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
